Passport Application Online: Applying for a passport has become easier in the last few years. The time taken to complete the process and the time taken by the applicant to get the passport has also been reduced.

A passport is an important document that is often required for foreign travel. It is issued by the government of the country and certifies the identity and nationality of the passport holder. It includes details like name, date of birth, address, photo, signature and other details.

Online Process Of Applying For Passport – Passport Application Process

First of all you have to go to the official website of the passport.  You have to create your account here!

STEP 1: Click on New User Registration to create a new account !

STEP 2: After that you have to fill the registration details in which first you have to select Passport Office and then you have to write your name (your name + your father’s name) and surname, date of birth email id and whatever password you want to keep. And you have to write the Hint Question and fill the captcha code and click on the Register button.

STEP 3: After registering an account, a link to activate the account will be sent to your email! Upon opening that link, the account will be activated after entering your username!

STEP 4: Now you have to visit the passport login page and click on Existing User Login then you can start filling your form using your username and password!

STEP 5: Here you have to click on Apply For Fresh Passport/Re-issue Passport!

STEP 6: Then you will see 2 options in which you can apply for passport online and offline. If you want to apply online then click on 1 Click here to fill the Application Form Online , if you want to apply offline then you can download and fill the form in option 2.

STEP 7: Select your state and district.

STEP 8: Now you have to select the passport type.

  1. Select “ Fresh Passport ” if you are applying online for the first time .
  2. Then you have to select whether you have seen passport immediately or normal. If you don’t need passport urgently then choose Normal if you need it urgently you can choose Tatkal.
  3. Then you have to select how many pages of passport you have seen. Choose 36 pages to save costs or you can choose 60 pages. It is up to you.

STEP 9 : In the next step, the applicant’s name and date of birth and place of birth along with educational qualification and Aadhaar information have to be filled!

After that you have to write what business you are doing in Employment Type,

Then you will be asked if there is any government job in your family then click on YES otherwise click on NO.

Then you have to select what you have studied in Education Qualification.

Then you will be asked that Is Applicant Eligible For Non-ECR Category means that if you have passed 10 then you have to click on Yes and if you have failed 10 then you have to click on No.

Then you have to click on Yes in I Agree and click on Save My Details. Then click on Next.

STEP 10: After this, father and mother, and husband/wife information has to be filled! Then click on Next.

STEP 11: After that the complete address and mobile number details of the applicant have to be filled. Then click on Next.

STEP 12: After that you have to fill the details of Emergency Contact.

STEP 13: After that the details of Identity Certificate have to be filled in which

Click on No in Have you Ever Held/Hold Any Identity Certificate .

Click on Details Not Applicable on Details Provided Current Diplomatic/Official Passport .

In Have you ever Applied Passport but Not Issued, if you have applied for such a passport and you have not received it, then click on Yes and if you are applying for a passport for the first time, click on No.

STEP 14: Then a new page will open in front of you in which you will be asked for legal details that no case has been registered against you or no FIR has been filed, all the details will have to be filled in your way. If it is not there, click on No.

STEP 15: Then you will see a preview of your passport in front of you then you have to click on Next.

STEP 16: Then you have to fill the information of Self Declaration in which the document will ask you. It should include any proof of birth and proof of address.

  • Then you have to fill other details and click on I Agree and click on Submit Form.
  • Then a new page will open and in it you will see the Application Reference Number which has to be saved.

STEP 17: Then click on View Saved/Submitted Application !

STEP 18: You can see that application! Which was submitted some time ago! Click the radio button next to it! Then click on Pay And Scheduled Appointment ! In which you have to pay the fee and make an appointment.

After that you can pay your online fee according to any method you want.

Now the list of passport service centers of your city will appear on the screen! In this, the nearest date and time for appointment will be mentioned!

Select the option as per your convenience from the drop down menu next to PSK location!

Then type the letters created in the image! Then click Next!

Then you will see details of application number and how much fee to pay and you have to make an appointment on which date you have to go to passport office with all the documents then click on pay and book appointment!

This will take you to the payment gateway page! As soon as your payment is completed! You will once again reach the Passport Service website!

Now you can see a page! On which the appointment confirmation will be written! On this page, complete appointment details from Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) will be available!

By clicking on Print Submitted Form you can download the applied form and by clicking on Print Application Receipt you can download the payment receipt. On the next page you will see a detailed view of your application!

On the next page you can check the receipt! Click on Print Application Receipt once again! After doing this you will be able to take a print out of your appointment confirmation!

You will need a print out of this receipt for entry to the Passport Service Centre. You have to take the necessary documents to the passport office on the date on which you have taken the appointment.

After that your verification will be done there and then if required police verification can also come to your home. And after all that is done the passport will arrive at your home by post within a month.

The required age documents for the passport that you will need to submit are: (Any one)

  • School Leaving Certificate/ Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
  • Birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation, Registrar of Births and Deaths or any other designated authority
  • authorized by the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969.
  • Declaration issued by the Head of the Orphanage/Child Care Home on official letterhead confirming the date of birth of the applicant.
  • Policy bonds issued by public life insurance corporations/companies bearing the holder’s date of birth.
  • Extract of applicant’s service record (in case of government employees) or pay pension order (retired government employees) duly attested/attested by the Administrative Officer/Incharge of the concerned Ministry/Department of the applicant.
  • Driving license .
  • PAN card .
  • Election Photo Identity Card.
  • Aadhaar Card or e-Aadhaar.
